How GS Yuasa became the industry leader in online tools and innovation - and why its new pan-European website marks the next major step forward 

Two weeks after switching on its completely redesigned pan-European website, GS Yuasa is highlighting the broader story behind this landmark development: a decade-long journey of digital leadership that has transformed how the battery industry accesses information, training and technical support. 

The new website, launched on 7 January, represents far more than a modernised platform. It is the latest evolution of a digital strategy that began over a decade ago, long before online battery tools had become the industry norm, and has continuously pushed boundaries in support of automotive distributors, workshop technicians, fire and security installers, UPS engineers and other professionals whose work depends on fast, accurate battery information. 

Although much of the industry associates GS Yuasa’s digital leadership with its work in the 2010s, the company's innovation stretch goes back much further. In fact, one of its earliest major digital tools, ISY, the industrial system sizing and battery calculator, was first launched in 2004, more than twenty years ago. This early investment in web-based calculators and technical tools laid the foundation for everything that would follow. 

From there, GS Yuasa’s online evolution gained speed: 

  • 2004 - Launch of ISY, providing industrial and standby power users with professional-grade battery sizing tools including all accessories and racks long before online calculation platforms were commonplace. 
  • 2013 - Introduction of GS Yuasa’s first comprehensive free online automotive battery lookup system, addressing increasing vehicle complexity and mounting demand for accurate, fast battery identification and fitting instructions. 
  • 2015 - Launch of the GS Yuasa lookup widget, enabling distributors and workshops to embed the company’s application database directly into their own websites. 
  • 2016 - Relaunch of the lookup system with new features and wider functionality, eventually serving more than 90,000 users across Europe. Including photo plate lookup and a host of other features 
  • 2017 - Launch of online POS and merchandise portal so customers can easily browse and order promotional and co-branded goods. 
  • 2019 - Launch of GS Yuasa Academy, still the most comprehensive battery training platform in the industry, offering structured modules, assessments and certification. 
  • 2024 - Major redevelopment and improvement of the ISY industrial calculator, expanding its capabilities and redesigning its interface to modern standards. 
  • Throughout this period, GS Yuasa expanded its digital footprint with the Yu-Fit battery configuration tool, the GYTV YouTube channel, and a marketing strategy embracing PPC, targeted digital campaigns, on-demand TV and digital out-of-home platforms. 


This consistent, long-term digital investment has shaped GS Yuasa into the undisputed leader in online battery support, and the newly launched website is the culmination of everything learned over more than two decades of innovation.
